Processing pandemic grief together: a collective filmmaking workshop.

Processing pandemic grief together: a collective filmmaking workshop.
This workshop is for anyone wishing to tend to their grief connected to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, and anyone intrigued by the idea of DIY filmmaking as a way to process and transform an experience.
The workshop will take place on Zoom on Sunday the 27th of July, 3pm BST/4pm CEST/10am EDT.
It is planned for 2.5 hours with a break. In the first half we will touch the edges of our grief by sharing with this temporary creative community what grief is currently present for us in connection to the pandemic. In the second half, we will explore how creativity can honour and support our grief. We will delve into how our experiences and feelings might be expressed through video, sound, words, or photos, in poetic and associative ways. We will explore what it looks like to work with what is in reach, and within our own limitations. In the couple of weeks following the workshop, guided by Kit, all participants will go on to create, at their own pace, a 1 minute film that expresses in some way an element of grief. Kit will then weave the pieces together and we will end up with a short DIY film made collaboratively.
On Sunday the 31st of August we will come together again for a screening of the patchwork film.
No creative experience is necessary at all.
When the collective story tries to shove us out through a campaign of forgetting, we weave together our own stories.
Access: Zoom calls will have auto-generated closed captions from Rev, which we find to be more accurate than Zoom's built-in captions. You are welcome to attend as you are, with camera on or off, and to communicate through voice or through typed chat, or to not communicate if that is what you need at the time. There will be comfort breaks throughout.
