the remote body writing workshop

The workshop course will be 10 weeks plus a one-week break in November
Workshops are at 2pm - 4pm UK time from the 1st of October until the 10th of December. We will have a break on the 5th of November at the halfway point.
Each session will include two breaks.
Each week, Char will bring a short generative writing prompt to class to get things started. Then we will workshop 2 pieces of work from participants that have been sent several days before. Participants are encouraged to read in advance if able to, but we will also read work aloud in class. The group will reflect on the writing, giving observations and feedback to the writer.
This course is facilitated by Char Heather, is a writer, researcher and facilitator who set up the remote body in 2020. Their PhD focuses on chronic illness narrative forms and they write on embodied artistic practices, fragmentation and crip theory. They have taught creative writing for over a decade and have published both short and long-form fiction, creative nonfiction, critical work and poetry.
the remote writing workshop is a writing group aimed at writers of all experience levels who want writing community, a gentle landing place, encouragement and constructive feedback in an environment that prioritises collective access.
The workshop aims to actively engage with the pillars of disability justice and to create a nurturing, kind and generative writing space.
There are eleven spaces available in total. This space is for anyone who identifies as sick, crip, disabled, d/Deaf or mad.
Get in touch if you have any queries regarding access. We currently have an access budget available if there are particular things we can do to make the space more accessible for you. We also have a dedicated budget for BSL, is you would like us to organise an interpreter, let us know!
We have a sliding scale price structure so please choose the price most appropriate to you.
We aim for as much flexibility as possible, if you need a free or lower-cost option to access the course, please get in touch and we'll organise that for you.
