the remote prose studio

Sold out £150.00 - £250.00

The workshop course will be 11 weeks plus a one-week break in march and a one-week break in April.

Workshops are at 2pm - 4pm UK time from the 11th of February until the 6th of May.
The weeks we are NOT in session are the 18th of March and the 1st of April, though there will be optional casual writing sessions to attend on these days.

Each session will include two comfort breaks.

the remote prose studio is a weekly writing workshop in which participants will workshop their writing, looking at two pieces a week, preparing feedback in advance, alongside having discussions about particular aspects and issues of narrative prose, from dialogue to description. Elements up for discussion will be influenced by the wants and needs of the group. Char will provide handouts with optional reading and writing exercises that focus on particular craft concerns.

This workshop asks participants to read around 2-3000 words each week and prepare feedback, though we do our best to accommodate our fluctuating capacities. If the reading/feedback sounds like too much for your current capacity and energy levels, I would recommend the remote writing workshop!

This course is facilitated by Char Heather, a writer, researcher and facilitator who set up the remote body in 2020. Their PhD focuses on chronic illness narrative forms and they write on embodied artistic practices, fragmentation and crip theory. They have taught creative writing for over a decade and have published both short and long-form fiction, creative nonfiction, critical work and poetry.

The workshop aims to actively engage with the pillars of disability justice and to create a nurturing, kind and generative writing space.

There are eleven spaces available in total. This space is for anyone who identifies as sick, crip, disabled, d/Deaf or mad.
