The Remote Writing Workshop
This autumn, The Remote Writing Workshop group will be a cohort of 9 writers meeting every other week to workshop up to 3 pieces of writing, giving each other feedback and receiving written and verbal feedback from facilitator Char Heather. The workshop is structured so that you have the opportunity to submit work twice across the course, and you will also be given a space at The Remote Writing Sessions. The aim for this workshop is that, as a small group, we can give each other thoughtful, engaged feedback and learn from one another's work and process. There is no restriction on the form your writing takes, we welcome poetry and prose, fiction and non-fiction. Full breakdown of dates and session content below.
When you book your space you will receive an information sheet which is in PDF format, and we will email as soon as we can with a .docx version and a link to the same info in a drive.
Capacity Commitment
This workshop asks you to commit to reading three pieces of work every two weeks and providing thoughtful feedback on each piece. It is also important that you are willing to submit for the first workshop (September 30th), we will have an introductory session before then to ensure everyone has what they need to submit and to provide feedback. Information will be provided on ways to give feedback, and Char will be on hand to support. We ask that you base this commitment on what is likely for you over the coming months, but understand that your capacity might fluctuate and change! Access
- We are currently using Zoom’s autogenerated captions, though suggestions for better software is welcome.
- We will have two 10 minute breaks per session.
- Feedback sessions can be recorded to transcript for those who would like to receive the transcript.
- You are welcome to communicate in sessions both through the mic and/or written chat function.
Please feel free to come to sessions 'as you are', participation from bed in pyjamas is more than welcome.
- You can have your camera on or off.
- We will have regular check-ins to see how the group can best meet one another’s access needs and approach any access clashes that might arise.
